Chapter 7: Love Reset.

"I don't know how to say it, but since I found out you're pregnant and the last time we made love, I feel different around you. It's kinda like this fits. Us. You and me. We feel right. Like you were made for me and I'm made for you."

Shane walked into his bedroom and watched Lissa sleeping. He loved watching her sleep. She looked so beautiful and peaceful. He wished things were different. It seemed that retribution was knocking on his doorstep for all the things he did when he was trying to find answers about his friend's death.

After they settled down and had dinner last night, he told Lissa he felt it best he put some distance between them. She looked at him with shocked and hurt eyes. She asked him why, he told her he couldn't risk her being hurt. He told her it was best she stayed at her parents' house from now on until he could find out who had a target on his back. She told him that she understood but he could still see the fear and the hurt.

They lay together on the couch until she fell asleep, then he lifted her in his arms and placed her on his bed. After making sure all the doors and windows were locked, he went to sleep on the pull-out couch, but it was an uneasy sleep.

Shane went back to his 'bed' and lay down. His watch said it was now 4:30 a.m. It was Sunday. He skipped church last week but he was definitely going today. He was going to his dad's church. He needed advice.

He knew Lissa wanted to stay here with him for more than a few days, but he needed to stick to the plan of waiting until marriage. It seemed silly now, because she was pregnant but he felt it was still necessary.

Maybe he had acted rashly in asking her to stay with him a few nights each week. Now that she was pregnant, he wasn't sure what to do. He knew he needed to be there for her and his child or children, but now that he was potentially in danger he felt angry and frustrated.

He needed to know who wanted to kill him, or whatever sinister plan they had for him. He couldn't risk Lissa being hurt in some way. He closed his eyes and managed to get an hour more sleep. When he woke up at 5:35, Lissa was laying on the pull-out couch. Her body didn't touch his while she slept beside him. He was a little surprised to see her by his side, but didn't disturb her. He closed his eyes and went back to sleep.

Around 7:30, Shane felt soft hands gently caressing his chest. He opened his eyes to see Lissa looking at him with love in her eyes. He touched her face. She kissed him tenderly and smiled at him. "I want to go to church with you today. Would that be okay?" she asked. He was pleasantly surprised. He smiled back at her. He nodded. "Yes, that's fine," he told her. "But you have nothing appropriate here."

"I know, but you can bring me home, then I can change and we head over to church," she said. He looked into her beautiful, dark brown eyes. "You sure?" he asked her. He stroked her face slowly. She leaned her head slightly, enjoying his touch. "Yes, I'm very sure," she replied.

"Okay," he said, "I was planning to go to the church my parents worship at," he told her.

"Okay," she said. At this point Lissa was locked in. She refused to let Shane push her away. "You have eggs in the fridge. Would you like boiled eggs or an omelette?" she asked.

Shane was still stroking her face. "Omelette is good," he told her. As he stared into her eyes, he felt this very deep, satisfying feeling. It felt weird but in a good way. "Lissa," he began, "I don't know how to say it, but since I found out you're pregnant and the last time we made love, I feel different around you. It's kinda like this fits. Us. You and me. We feel right." He held her hand and kissed it. "Like you were made for me and I'm made for you. I don't know if you get what I'm trying to say," he said

Lissa moved closer to him and rested her head on his chest. She sighed. "I can't even begin to explain how being around you feels the past 24 hours. All I can say is all of me belongs to you now." Shane kissed her brow and rubbed her back. He loved her. He had to find a way. It was time he man up and do the right thing.

"Melissa Nordia Dixon, will you do me the honor and privilege of being my wife?"

Lissa lifted her head and stared at him. He looked at her. His gaze felt like it was piercing through her, but there was no condemnation in his stare, no fear or doubt, only love and surety. "You're serious?" she asked amazed.

He nodded. Shane waited, his heart racing. She closed her eyes and rested her head on his chest. She sighed. "Yes, Shane David Crosby, I will marry you," she said. Shane hugged her to him. He pulled more of her body on top of him and squeezed her close to him. "I love you," he said.

He closed his eyes. Oh God, thank you!

"I love you," she breathed, feeling elated. She could feel his heart pounding in his chest. He flipped her over and lay on top of her. He kissed her cheeks, her lips, her eyelids then her brow. He was very happy. He grinned at her. "You've made me very happy!" He chuckled. "Oh God, thank you!" he shouted. Lissa laughed. She liked seeing this side of him.

He sat up and looked at the black clock on the wall. It was 8:10 a.m. He reached for his phone under his pillow and turned it on. He dialed his brother's number. "Morning bro. Change of plans," he said looking at Lissa. He smiled and winked at her. "Meet me at mom and dad's church. I want you to meet someone, and there's something I have to tell you. Yeah. Has Kerry come back yet?"

He bent his torso forward and kissed the beautiful, soft valley between Lissa's breasts. She giggled. He bit his lip and blew a sexy kiss at her. Lissa grinned happily. "Good. Bring her and the boys. Yeah, okay. See you guys later," Shane said then ended the call. Next, he called his dad. He told his dad he needed to speak with him and his mother, but he would tell them the details when they were face to face.

After talking to his father for thirty-five seconds, he hung up then buried his face between Lissa's breasts. Her skin was so soft and smelt like cherry blossoms. He kissed the soft flesh repeatedly. Lissa whimpered a little. His gentle kisses were making it hard to think straight. She rubbed her hands on his head. "Shane, Shane!" she said feeling excited. "I could call your name all day," she told him.

Shane lifted his head from her cleavage to look at her face. "I never knew being with you would feel like this," he said. "I'm glad God held me back from pursuing you all those years. I would have messed things up."

Lissa wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him. Shane grunted and closed his eyes. She was perfect for him. He buried his face between her breasts again, inhaling her scent, and stayed there for five more minutes before they got up to get ready for church.

****

Lissa took a long warm shower and changed into a mini skirt and t-shirt she brought with her to Shane's house. She also folded her clothes and placed them in the travel bag she brought with her. Shane showered and got dressed in dark grey trousers, black shiny shoes, black belt. He also wore a dark grey vest with a tie the color of wine red which was complemented by the rich shade of his burgundy shirt and dark grey jacket. Lissa was swooning on the inside. The cut of the jacket accentuated his broad, muscular shoulders and back but also showed off his trim waist. The pants were not tight. They were the right amount of snug.

She looked at him from head to toe and wished she could take everything off and make love to him. She thought of what she could wear that would match and complement what he was wearing. She had a nice burgundy dress she could wear, but that was more ballroom gown.

Wait! She had a nice grey dress with silver lines on the skirt of the dress. Okay, she will wear that, and black shoes with three inch heels. She could do a quick flat iron of her hair. Yeah, she will do that.

On their way driving to her parents' house, she called her mother and told her she was coming to change to go to church with Shane. Her mother was very surprised to hear that but said okay.

Shane told Lissa that he was 'carrying' just in case. He had a shoulder holster that he tucked his gun inside. Luckily, the soft interior of his jacket did a good job of hiding any bulge. Lissa wished the precaution wasn't necessary, but she understood that after the encounter with the stranger at the boys' home, they needed to be extra careful.

While he drove, she tentatively rested her hand on his left thigh and said, "I understand what you said about putting some distance between us, but baby I don't want to be away from you for too long. The thought of it feels like I'm going through physical pain. Shane look at me."

The hand that touched his thigh reached up and lovingly caressed his face. Shane glanced at her briefly then turned his attention to the road. He listened to her carefully. "I don't want to be away from you," she said. "Maybe wanting to stay with you is wrong, and yes for your sake I'll stay with my parents, but don't ask me to marry you and tell me to keep my distance."

Shane looked over at her. He sighed. "Lissa, I love you, you're carrying my baby or babies," he chuckled when he said those last words. "I would never want to hurt you. I'm sorry about last night. I panicked. I want you with me, but I want you to be safe. If I could marry you tomorrow I would, I can't wait any longer. I can't deny how I feel about you. I want you as my wife as soon as it can be done.

"That's why I'm going to see my parents. I want them to give us their blessings and I want my dad to arrange a wedding for us as soon as possible. I know it feels like I'm rushing, but things have changed. I just want you to stay with your parents for a little while until I can figure out who's messing with me." Who the hell is Mr Z? he wondered.

He reached out and touched the hand stroking his face. He kissed it and rested it on his lap, clasping it in his. "Getting married quickly is the best way I know how to keep you safe. Plus, I can't have you with me without feeling a little guilty." He took a deep breath. "And, if something were to happen to me, you would be provided for," he told her.

Lissa felt fear tightening her chest. "Shane, baby, please don't speak like that," she said her eyes wide. He looked at Lissa, sadness in his eyes. "I never meant to bring this mess into your life baby, please forgive me," he said.

"Nothing to forgive honey. As you said all in His timing. Whatever happens I trust you, and I don't think God would bring us together to rip us apart again. From what I remember from Sunday School, God is sovereign but he's also love."

She smiled reassuringly at him. He smiled at her then focused on the road. He still held on to her hand. She could feel him squeezing it as if he was holding on to life itself. Lissa looked through her passenger side window. In her heart, she prayed,

Oh God, here me please,

I know the last time we spoke was when my grandma was sick.

When she died I was angry with you,

You are God not me.

You are powerful,

And things work according to what you want,

But God please protect Shane.

You have given him to me,

And I promise to love him and cherish him.

I'm carrying his baby or babies,

Please Lord, don't allow him to be taken from us now.

Protect him please.

Help him not to do anything that he will regret later.

Please protect him, and his brother and parents.

Protect this baby or babies inside me and also keep me safe.

Please protect my family also.

I pray in your holy name,

Amen.

Shane parked at her family's gate and was planning on staying in the car, but Lissa asked him to come inside with her. She looked through her purse for the key and used it to open the front door. Lissa called out to her parents and little brother, "Mommy! Daddy! Branno!"

She heard her mother reply. They heard footsteps and saw her mother walking along the corridor of the stairs. Shane looked up at her. He realised that Lissa got her beautiful, expressive eyes from her mother. And for a woman who he guessed was in her late forties or early fifties, she was gorgeous. He lowered his gaze to look at Lissa. She was smiling up at her mother, but he could tell she was nervous.

"Lissa you're home," Sandra said. She had a stern look on her face. "I need to talk to you."

Sandra walked down the stairs and stood before her daughter. Lissa reached back and grabbed Shane's hand, and pulled him closer to face her mom with her. "Shane and I are going to church this morning," she said smiling nervously. Sandra nodded. She looked at Shane. He had to admit that penetrating stare was unnerving. Lissa had never looked at him like that, but probably if she did, he would know he was in trouble.

Sandra extended her hand towards him. Shane put his hand out and shook it. He was about to release her hand when she held on to his and gave him the most intimidating stare he had ever experienced. "Nice to meet you," Lissa's mom said.

Just then, Marcus walked through the front door. Lissa went and hugged her dad. He had a grocery bag in his hand. He embraced his daughter and observed his wife's tense body language.

Sandra released Shane from her gaze and hand grip. Shane felt himself sweating in his arm pits. He sighed feeling relieved. Lissa was walking towards him and her mom. She saw the uncomfortable look on his face and tried to smile reassuringly.

Sandra turned to her husband and took the grocery bag from him. She stood on tiptoe and kissed her husband on the cheek. She looked pointedly at Shane. "Lissa told me you guys were going to church today. What time does church start?" Sandra asked.

Shane cleared his throat. "Around 10:30," he replied. Marcus looked at his watch. It was 9:45. "It's 9:45 now," he told his wife.

"I needed to speak with you, we both need to speak with you," Sandra said. She hesitated on what she was going to say next. Marcus moved his hand to rest on his wife's lower back. Shane noticed the gesture. He cleared his throat. "Mrs Dixon, Mr Dixon I wanted to introduce Lissa to my family at church today, but I can do that another time," he said.

"Is the purpose of Lissa going to meet your family?" Marcus asked.

"Yes, it is my intention. I want to marry her," Shane said. He averted his eyes from Sandra's penetrating stare and focused his gaze on him. Marcus noticed what he did and chuckled softly. "Shane," he said, "have a seat, please. I won't take long. Fifteen minutes," Marcus said. Shane nodded reluctantly. "Okay," he said. Marcus kissed his wife's brow and led Shane into the living room, leaving Lissa and her mother in the foyer. "Let's go into the kitchen," Sandra said walking away without looking at her daughter.

Lissa was getting really nervous. She followed her. Sandra sat in a chair. While Lissa stood. "Sit down Lissa," Sandra said. Her tone leaving no room for negotiation. Lissa sat down, pulling out a chair to face her. Sandra clasped her hands together and stared at her child. "Lissa, I love you. You are my first born. I've tried my best to impart as much good principles as much as I can. But I've also tried to let you know I'm here for you and you can confide in me," she said. Sandra reached out her right hand and touched her daughter's hand. "With that being said," she said with a heavy sigh. "Derrick was here a few nights back."

Lissa's heart dropped. "Your brother and he got into a heated argument and it was revealed that Derrick asked for a threesome," Sandra continued. "And before you go cussing your brother. He was outside talking to Derrick. I came to the door to see who he was talking to and I overheard the word threesome. So being your mother I intervened. Derrick confessed and said you guys were toying with the idea but in the end decided against it, but Branno said you were the one who shut that down. I need to know what the truth is?"

Lissa looked down at the floor. She felt so embarrassed. Sandra reached up and touched her daughter's chin and lifted her face. Lissa looked at her mother. She couldn't say anything. "Lissa, baby, please talk to me," Sandra said softly. She softened her gaze.

Lissa sighed. She broke down. "Mommy, I thought he loved me, but he asked for the threesome a year ago and since then he's been distant with me. He wasn't touching me the same way. The other day we were supposed to spend a quiet, date night at home watching movies and popcorn, but he canceled at the last minute. I was so disappointed, it escalated into an argument because he said he had to work and wanted to bring me home. But there were other occasions before, when he had to work, I would just stay with him and watch TV or go to bed. When I didn't hear from him the next day, I said I would try to make up with him. I was thinking of looking for him after work. So I tried to catch a taxi to get to his workplace, but Shane saw me and offered to take me.

"Mommy, Shane stayed after I went into Derrick's office. I never told him to, he just did. And it was a good thing he did. When I went to his office, Derrick was not there. Shane was outside of his office waiting on me. He took me to the restaurant where Derrick likes to dine. The hostess there told me he was supposed to be upstairs with a client, but it was a young woman. Later on, when I confronted Derrick he told me she was the daughter of a client."

Sandra nodded. She squeezed her daughter's hand. Lissa smiled weakly. "Derrick told me it was a misunderstanding. The girl was drunk," Sandra recounted. Her voice became hoarse as she tried to control the emotions she was feeling.

"Yeah, that's what he told me, but I don't believe him. Mommy, he was really going in. He was kissing her quite deeply," Lissa told her mother. "I was so upset I wanted to go over and cuss him off, but Shane convinced me to play it cool and that's what I did.

"Derrick came a couple days after and took me to lunch. I thought he would tell me the truth, but it was just lies. He also told me that I was like grapenut ice cream. I'm boring," Lissa smiled sadly.

"Long story short, Shane has been very understanding of my feelings and he makes me feel beautiful. When I saw Derrick kissing the girl I got so stressed out about it I fainted. Shane ended up having to pay for a meal he didn't plan for, and he had to take me home." Her voice cracked. She took a shaky breath.

Lissa felt her eyes watering. She squeezed back the tears. She felt a hand gently touch her back.

****

Marcus made Shane sit on the big grey couch while he sat on the loveseat. Shane looked around the room. He had to admit, their home was a beautiful one. He was also admiring the smooth finish of the walls and remembered that Lissa said Jason had painted some of the rooms.

"My daughter seems to be quite taken with you," Marcus said. He watched Shane closely. He could tell the young man was uncomfortable, but doing his best to look relaxed.

"What her mother and I are concerned about you see, is that you will not be a disaster like the last man, Derrick. He asked our daughter for a threesome," Marcus said standing up.

"Scotch or whisky?" he asked Shane. "Scotch," Shane answered.

"Scotch?" Marcus asked to confirm.

Shane nodded. "Yes," he said. His throat felt dry. Marcus went over to the small table near the back of the room and poured a half glass of scotch in a tumbler. He poured some whisky for himself.

"Ice?" Marcus asked without looking up. "Yes, thank you," Shane replied.

There was a small cooler beside the wine table. He opened it and took out a bag filled with cubed ice. He was trying to pull it when Shane came forward and pulled out a small pocket knife from his trousers and handed it to him. Marcus took it from him but was a little surprised. He used the knife to wedge the knot at the top of the bag loose to open it. He handed the knife back to Shane then used his fingers to pry the knot open.

Marcus reached into the cooler and took out a tong. He put it in the bag and took out three ice cubes for himself and three for Shane. He retied the bag and handed Shane his drink. Marcus returned the bag and tong to their place and closed the cooler, while observing Shane closely.

Shane sipped his drink. He was used to the 'kick' in the scotch, but sipped it carefully. "First time drinking this brand of scotch?" Marcus asked. Shane shook his head. "Actually no, I was here recently. Lissa invited me over, she gave me a little to drink," Shane confessed. Marcus nodded. "I noticed it wasn't at the level I left it the last time I opened, but assumed Brandon had taken some," Marcus said eyeing the young man before him carefully.

"About the threesome," Shane said sipping the calming liquid. "She told me about it when I was here that time she invited me. The night before she caught Derrick kissing a young woman, and she was distraught about that to the point where she fainted, and I had to take her home. By the time I got her home she had woken up."

He cleared his throat. "Sir, I love your daughter. I've loved her since I met her five years ago. She means the world to me." He took a deep breath. "I respect you and I respect her mother, so I'm not going to hide anything from you." Shane took another labored breath. Marcus watched him. They were still standing by Marcus' minibar table.

"Lissa fell ill on Monday. I took her to the hospital and that's where we found out that she's ..." He sighed. He looked Marcus squarely in the eyes. "Lissa is pregnant for me," Shane said. He waited for Marcus' response. He was expecting an angry reaction. Instead, Marcus walked back to the grey couch and sat down. Shane stood watching him.

"How far along?" Marcus asked.

"A little over a week," Shane answered. "I know, it is early," he said noting Marcus' raised eyebrows.

"But Lissa was really nauseous, and weak. I was the one who told her maybe she was pregnant. The blood test they did is pretty accurate."

"And you're saying she is?" Marcus asked.

Shane nodded.

"Have a seat, uh ..." Marcus said feeling his head begin to hurt.

"Shane," Shane said reminding him of his name.

Marcus nodded. "Have a seat Shane," he said. He leaned back into the couch and downed his whisky in one last gulp.

Shane was still sipping his scotch. He felt sorry about the situation. He sat opposite him on the family's beloved blue couch.

"I love my daughter but sometimes she makes some unwise choices. I hope you won't be one of them." Marcus said, his eyes boring into Shane.

"I love Lissa, sir. She's become my better half. I want to marry her," Shane said.

Marcus nodded. "Okay. How soon?" he asked him.

"Within the next three months. That was one of the reasons I wanted to see my parents. My father is an elder of a church. I was going to ask him to help make arrangements to facilitate a wedding ceremony at his church," he told Lissa's father.

"I can't say I'm not displeased with how things are going in my daughter's love life, because I am. I made a promise to you that I would break your legs if you hurt her. Now, I will make another promise. If you take care of my daughter, I will do all in my power to make sure your futures are secure including my grand child's," he told him.

Shane nodded.

"But if I hear any foolishness about threesomes or you cheating in your relationship, you will not like me," Marcus promised.

"Understood," Shane said. "However, I want no one else. Lissa is more than enough woman for me."

Marcus' left eyebrow raised a little. He processed what the young man said then chuckled. "Yes, she and her mother can be intense," he said. Shane cracked a faint smile. Yeah, I could see that, he mused as he remembered her mom's intimidating stare.

"Brandon is not here, but no doubt he will have some questions for you. He is very protective of his big sister," Marcus said. "I will have to let her mother know she's pregnant, but I'll do it after you guys have left for church. I want you guys to come back after and tell us what your parents said, okay?" Marcus said.

Shane nodded. "Will do. Lissa may have to stay here for the three months. This might sound like a contradiction, but I'm a Christian, so I can't have her living with me before we're married. I asked her to stay the week before, but that was poor judgement on my part. I ... I ... "

"It's okay son," Marcus said. "You've seen her mother."  Shane nodded.

"I know my daughter is beautiful. I understand. And no doubt you were also trying to comfort her after her break up."

Shane nodded ruefully. "Yeah, I was and it went a little too far."

"Well, stand up to your responsibility, and I will see how I can help where necessary," Marcus said.

"Thank you sir. I will," Shane said feeling relieved. He wouldn't tell him he had a target on his back though. No, he couldn't. He had finished his drink. Marcus saw the empty glass in his hand. He reached for it. Shane handed it to him. "I think we've given them enough time, don't you?" Marcus said cracking a smile. Shane smiled back. He liked Lissa's dad.

Marcus carried the two glasses while he chatted with Shane about life as a police officer. Shane told him the more mundane side. As they walked to the kitchen's door, Shane heard Lissa speaking and noted the trembling in her voice.

Both he and her dad paused to listen. He heard her recount finding out Derrick was cheating and the emotion in her voice. At that point he couldn't contain himself. He moved passed Marcus, walked up behind her and touched her back.

Lissa looked up and saw Shane's worried face. She turned around to him. Shane pulled her to her feet and embraced her. He held her close, rocking her body from side to side. Lissa shed a few tears quietly. Marcus put the glasses in the sink. He looked at his wife and nodded. His wife smiled slightly. They both watched as Shane stroked their daughter's back and spoke softly to her, telling her he loved her and she was his now.

After Lissa stopped crying, she went upstairs to her room and washed her face. She applied some lavender oil and water she had in a spray bottle to her hair and massaged it into her scalp quickly. She plugged in her flat iron and set it to medium heat. She sprayed some heat protection oil on her hair working it through with her fingers then carefully used the flat iron to smooth out hair cuticles as well as give her hair a sleek look. She curled the ends slightly. She parted her hair to the right.

She got undressed quickly and sprayed on her body mist. She rubbed on some deodorant gel under her armpits. She hurried to put on the grey dress and black open-toe shoes with thick three inch heels. Taking her perfume from the bag she brought over to Shane's house, she sprayed a little on her dress.

Lissa looked in the mirror. She only applied a light amount of concealer and foundation to her face. She colored her lips with pink lip gloss, but decided not to wear eye shadow. She wanted to leave a good impression the first time she met his family.

Stepping down the stairs, she saw that Shane was at end of them waiting for her. She could tell by the way he was looking at her, she hit the mark. He was smiling broadly at her. She stood before him. "Do I look okay?" she asked. "Will your parents approve? You said they were traditional."

Shane kissed her brow. He smelled the lavender oil and closed his eyes. He hugged her. "You smell really good baby. I wish I could devour you right now," he whispered.

Lissa giggled softly. She touched his face and gave him a brief peck on the lips. "My parents will be very impressed, baby. You are gorgeous." he told her, taking her in. Her parents stepped out of the kitchen to look at her. Sandra smiled. "You look really nice baby." Sandra said.

"Thanks mommy," Lissa said smiling.

Marcus smiled at her. "Nice baby," he told her. Lissa's smile broadened.
"Okay, we'll be leaving now," Shane said smiling at them both. They were late.

Marcus walked them to the door. He bid them safe travel then locked the door. He walked into the kitchen where his wife was soaping up the tumblers.

He put his arms around her from behind. Sandra sighed and leaned into him. "Have I told you I love when you come up behind me and hold me like this," she said.

Marcus laughed softly. "Sure you do, but you can tell me again. I don't mind," he answered. He kissed her neck. Sandra closed her eyes and groaned softly.

"There's something I need you to know," He said to his wife. He reached up his hands and caressed her bosom. After all these years, she was still very physically appealing to him.

"Really?" she asked. Her breathing became more shallow as Marcus gently squeezed and massaged her breasts.

"Mhm," he said nuzzling her neck.

"Okay, tell me," Sandra said, her voice having that husky tone he loved to hear.

Marcus turned his wife around to him and kissed her. "I love you and I will love you till my very last breath."

Sandra kissed him passionately, then said, "I love you too, handsome."

Marcus bent forward and lifted her in his arms. She laughed softly. "Aren't you too old for this type of thing," she teased him.

"Nope," he said.

"Your back," she said chuckling.

Shhh," he said smiling. He winked at her. Sandra laughed and briefly kissed him while he carried her upstairs to their bedroom.

Shane parked his car around the back of the church and got out. He skipped over to Lissa's side of the car and opened her door for her. He extended his hand and she took it. He pulled her to her feet, his eyes devouring her beauty. "Lissa you look very beautiful," he said.

Lissa smiled up at him. "Thank you," she said. He gave her his arm and she tucked her hand in it. He led her to the front of the church. They walked into the building and stood at the doorway.

A few persons looked around at them. The preacher was in the middle of his sermon. Shane scanned the room. He saw his brother lift his head and look in his direction. Shaun smiled at him and he smiled back. He also saw in his brother's eyes that he was impressed with Lissa.

Shane touched Lissa's hand and pointed in the direction of his brother. He patted her hand and moved towards him. Lissa complied with his direction. They walked over to where his brother, his brother's wife and sons were sitting. They sat behind them in two empty chairs. Lissa brought a small bag with her. She opened it, took out the lip gloss and applied a little more to her lips.

Shaun looked around at her and smiled, then looked at his brother, his eyebrows raised. Lissa saw Shane chuckle then slap Shaun on his shoulder. She wondered what they were thinking. Lissa returned the lip gloss to her bag. She pursed her lips together, evenly distributing the glossy liquid across them.

She leaned back and listened to the sermon. The preacher was speaking about the spotless Lamb Jesus Christ. He referenced Isaiah chapter 53:4-6:

4 Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to our own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.

Lissa listened intrigued as the preacher explained that in ancient Jewish culture a lamb - a baby sheep - was used as part of their worship ceremony, The lamb was called an atoning sacrifice. A sacrifice that was used to appease a righteous God who was displeased with sinful mankind.

The lamb had to be in good physical health. It could not be sickly and have no defects. The interesting thing was, even though God was displeased that humans had sinned or missed the mark because of what Adam did, He still loved them, and wanted to have a relationship with them. The problem was, being a Righteous God he could not ignore their sin.

There had to be retribution for breaking his righteous Law, but he didn't want to destroy them.  Even though the blood of lambs were shed as sacrifices. They could not appropriately cover or cleanse people from their sinful nature, therefore not being able to satisfy God's righteous requirements. Christ was the only solution to the problem.

The lambs used in the temple could not purify people from their wrong thoughts and actions, and there had to be a way for God's righteous justice to be satisfied. Christ as the Holy Lamb fulfilled that by taking the form of humans, living a good and righteous life among them, and ultimately taking the punishment of God's wrath that they deserved.

Lissa had questions but she would wait until she got a chance to ask Shane privately.

After the sermon ended, the church sang a hymn 'Draw Me Nearer', then one of the deacons prayed and the meeting was over. Lissa followed Shane's cue and stood up. Shaun turned to his brother and gave him a hug. He looked at Lissa with an appreciative gaze. He said, "My brother told me he had met someone, he however never told me you were gorgeous." He smiled at her. He extended his hand to her. Lissa shook it.

She took him in. He did resemble his brother in many ways: his eyes, his nose, his handsome face and square jaw. They both had beautiful dark skin. However, Shane had fuller lips and was a little taller than Shaun. He also had a larger build than his brother, but that was probably because Shaun wasn't interested in that type of thing, Lissa thought. She looked over at Shane. Yes, both Shane and his brother had the same smoldering black eyes, but coming from Shane it was more breathtaking.

Shane observed how his brother was looking at Lissa. He felt good inside. He knew Shaun would say something to him later. Lissa looked absolutely gorgeous in her grey dress. It barely hugged her figure. However it was her presence, her sophistication while carrying herself that made the look more devastating.

After greeting a few people, Shaun's wife, Kerry, came up from behind and tucked her arms around her husband's waist. She looked over his left shoulder and smiled at Lissa. "Hi, I'm Kerry. This guy's wife," she said cheerfully. Shaun covered his wife's hands and squeezed. Kerry kissed his jaw. Shaun smiled and leaned his head towards his wife's face. Lissa smiled. They looked cute together. "Hi Kerry, nice to meet you," she said. Kerry looked behind her and motioned for the boys to come forward. "And these are our twin troubles," Kerry said chuckling. Lissa laughed softly. "Say hi to the nice lady boys," Kerry said.

"Hi nice lady," Nate said shyly. Lissa smiled at them both. "My name is Melissa, but you can call me Lissa," she said.

"Aunt Lissa," Shane said correcting her with a smile. Lissa looked up at him. He was smiling lovingly at her. His eyes said, you're mine and I won't let you go. She blushed. "Hi aunt Lissa. My name is Noah and this one here is my little brother Nathan, but we call him Nate," Noah spoke up.

Lissa looked at the young boy and smiled happily. "Nice to meet you Noah," she said. She turned to Nathan, "Nice to meet you Nate." She reached out to shake Noah's hand first then Nate's. The two boys grinned at her.

Kerry laughed softly. "Oh no, I think they're in love," she said amused at her sons' reactions to Lissa. Shaun chuckled. He looked at his brother and winked. "I don't blame them," he said. Shane smiled brashly. He put his arm around Lissa and kissed her cheek. He smelled her perfume mingled with the lavender oil. He sighed. Wish we were married right now, he thought."Where's mom and dad?" Shane asked, looking around the room. He rubbed his hand gently on Lissa's back.

Lissa was enjoying the feel of his hand on her back. His touch felt good. She wished she could just lay up in bed or on the couch at his place and relax in his arms. Just lay still and let him touch her any where he wanted. She closed her eyes thinking about it.

Shaun noted Lissa's body language and realised that Shane was rubbing her back. He stared intensely at his brother, trying to get his attention. Shane wondered why Shaun was giving him such a sharp stare. He looked at him closely, his eyes squinting.

Once Shaun realized he had his brother's attention he dropped his gaze to Shane's arm around Lissa's back then slanted his head slightly towards Lissa. Shane looked at Lissa and saw that she was biting her lip and had difficulty keeping her eyes open. He saw the look on her face. At that moment, he realised he was probably turning her on. He removed his hand and cleared his throat.

Shaun chuckled softly. He looked at Kerry who had also picked up on what was happening. She smiled at her husband, her eyebrows slightly raised. She looked at Lissa and smiled. "Lissa would you like something to eat or drink? The church has a welfare department. They usually provide pastry and tea. Sometimes breakfast."

Lissa cleared her throat. She felt hot all over. "Okay. Maybe water," she said. Kerry smiled at her. She took her boys' hands and walked off slowly. "Okay," she said, "follow me", over her shoulder. Lissa looked at Shane and smiled at him, then she went after Kerry.

Shaun laughed softly. "She's beautiful Shane. I think I'm a little jealous," Shaun said.

Shane chuckled. "I know," he said simply. Shaun slapped his brother on his shoulder, chuckling. "You plan on making sure this one works?" Shaun asked. "I think the boys would want to see her again," Shaun said amused.

Shane nodded. He smiled. "I actually brought her here because I want to marry her, and there's something else I need to let you guys know," he said. He looked around the room. "Where's mom and dad?"

"Right here," they heard their mother reply. They looked behind them to see their mother and father approach them holding hands. Shane stepped forward and kissed his mother on the cheek, while Shaun shook his father's hand. After hugging and kissing his mom, Shane went over and shook his dad's hand then gave him a hug.

"Sorry we're late," Mrs Belinda Crosby said, "but blame it on your father. He insisted on hanky panky before church." Shane heard his brother gasp and clear his throat. He laughed. His parents were not afraid to express how amorous they still were in their relationship even though they were no longer young. David Shane Crosby laughed heartily. "Belle, please stop embarrassing our children," he said. He planted a firm kiss on his wife's cheek.

Shane watched his parents with a smile. He hoped he and Lissa could be that way when they turned 60. "Well glad you could make it," he said looking at them with pride. He loved his parents. They were both retired and lived a fairly comfortable life. Their mother had been a teacher for forty years while his dad had been a civil engineer, who now had several investments in real estate.

"Okay Shane, you arranged this meeting. What do you want to talk about?" his father said. Shane smiled.

"Can we use one of the visitors' lounges?" Shane asked. "What I have to say requires more privacy." His father nodded. "Sure," he said. He squeezed his wife's hand. "This way," he said walking to a room towards the periphery of the church. After his brother and parents entered the room, he sat down. "Dad, please close the door," he said.

Senior Crosby looked at his son puzzled. He flicked the lock in place. He took out his cellphone and made a call. "Elder Pusey, it's David Crosby. Yes, brother greetings in the Lord. I'm having a little family meeting in Room 4, visitor's lounge. Mhm, so if the ushers come and test the door, we're in here. Yes man, sure thing I will lock up if we leave late, no problem." Shane's dad hung up his phone.

Shaun took out his phone to call his wife. "Let her know to bring Lissa with her," Shane said. Shaun nodded. "Yeh man," he answered. He dialed Kerry's number. "Baby, we're in one of the visitors' lounge, okay? Room four. Make sure Lissa is okay and bring her to the room when you guys have done chit chatting," he said. Shaun laughed. "Okay baby, see you soon." Shaun ended his call.

Shane's mother leaned forward in a comfy loveseat. "So what's up?" she asked her first born looking at him.

Shane sighed. "I've always wanted to have a family. I've always wanted the kind of love you and dad have." He took a deep breath and said, "I think I've found it. I met this girl five years ago, and wanted to be with her since then, but I guess this is God's timing. Mom and dad, her name is Melissa Nordia Dixon and I'm very much in love with her."

His parents were smiling at each other. "We knew it! We knew it!" Belinda said. "Davie didn't I tell you?" she continued. His dad nodded and smiled.

What? What did you know?" Shaun interjected.

"Every year both of you call us on your birthdays, but this year we only got a call from you," she said speaking to Shaun. "When Shane is seeing someone he hardly has time for us." she said eyeing Shane. Shane shook his head. He smiled apologetically. "Mommy, I swear I was gonna call, but I got caught up," he replied.

"Mhm, yeh man," his mother quipped. David Crosby reached out and squeezed his wife's hand. She quieted down. Shane always marveled at how his dad could do that. "So are we going to meet this young lady?" his dad asked.

Just then, there was a knock on the door. Shane got up and opened it. Kerry walked in with her small, young tribe. Lissa walked in after, looking a little nervous. Kerry and the boys sat beside their husband and father. Kerry gave the boys some Math puzzles to solve while the meeting was taking place.

Shane gently touched Lissa's hand and brought her to sit beside him on a black couch. He rubbed his hand on her arm. He saw how nervous she was. He touched her head and allowed her to rest it on his shoulder. She closed her eyes trying not to be nervous, but she was. Shaun noticed and spoke first, "Mom and dad, would you like something to drink? Water?"

"Water is good, honey," Belinda answered.

Shaun got up and left the room quietly. While he was gone. Shane continued, "Mom and dad, this is Melissa, but she also goes by Lissa." He squeezed her arm. Lissa lifted her head, opened her eyes and smiled at his parents.

"Nice to meet you," his father replied. He nudged his wife. She looked at him grudgingly then spoke up, "A pleasure to meet you dear."

Lissa's smile widened. "Grateful to meet you both," she said.

Shaun returned with a bag filled with bottled water. He handed one to Lissa then to Shane, his parents then to his wife. He sat beside his beloved and whispered, "What did I miss?"

Kerry smiled at him and shook her head. "Nothing much," she said. They watched avidly as Shane patted Lissa's head down on his shoulder and gently rubbed her arm.

"Yes, as I was saying," Shane continued, "Lissa and I have known each other for five years but we just started a more serious relationship this year. I am in love with her and she loves me," he said looking at her. She looked into his eyes and smiled. "I want to marry her this year, hopefully in the next three months." he said.

Kerry looked at her husband. Her husband looked at her. They both stared at Shane waiting to hear what his parents would say. Elder Crosby cleared his throat. "Marriage is a good thing, and I have always wanted you to get married and settle down. How long have you guys been dating now?" he asked.

"That's the thing," Shane said. "Not long, but there are extenuating circumstances that warrant us getting married as soon as possible."

"Such as?" his mother, Belinda Crosby asked.

Shane took a deep breath. He was going to protect Lissa even if it meant his parents got upset with him. However, he would be transparent with them. He held Lissa closer to him. He could feel her body shaking. He looked at her. She looked away from him. "Lissa is carrying my child, or possibly children," he told them.

He heard Kerry gasp. Shaun looked shocked. He heard his mother exclaim then say "What?!" But his dad as always was very calm. "Shane, you've only just come back to the faith eight months now! Couldn't you have given the flesh a rest?! My god!" Belinda said angrily. She looked at Lissa with an accusatory stare. "Did you seduce my son? You've heard that our family has money or something like that?"

"Belle, no!" David Crosby said.

"Davie, he just gave his heart to God and now look at this. Look what sin has brought?" She pointed at Lissa. "Look what the dev..."

"Mommy!" Shane shouted angrily. Belinda stopped talking. "Shane, you have never shouted at me. You shouted at me," she said quietly.

Shane's father grabbed her hand and squeezed hard. She stopped talking, pursing her lips.

Lissa sat up, a tear falling down her face. "I don't know much about you guys," she said looking at his parents' shocked faces. "I know he has a family, that's obvious. I just found out he has a twin a few days ago. I don't know if you guys have money or anything like that, but I wouldn't want any. I'm content working for the things I want. Shane and I were good work colleagues for many years.

"We just got together about two weeks now. I know it is ridiculous to already be pregnant. I wish things were different. It was never my intention to be pregnant at this time. I don't know much about him, but the love he has shown me in the past few days has given me strength and comfort." She glanced at Shane then returned her gaze to his parents. She saw his mother's scowl and lowered her eyes to the floor.

"We've always been friends and he wanted to be with me for the five years he's known me, but I was with someone. He never told me he cared for me like that until recently. But, after I went through a bad experience recently with my ex, Shane has been there for me. He's treated me with respect, He's been very understanding and loving. I may not even deserve to be with him, but I will commend you, Mr and Mrs Crosby, you have raised your son into a very good man, and I will always be grateful for how he's treated me." Lissa stood up.

She looked at Shane and said, "Shane, I love you. I know it took me awhile to get around to it, but I love you. I don't want you and your family to have any rift because of me. I can carry this baby and we can co-parent if that is a better arrangement." Shane was in shock as he listened to her. He felt paralysed. Lissa looked at his parents. "Mr and Mrs Crosby, I believe in God, but I'm not really a Christian. If that is also a disqualifier for me marrying your son, I understand." Lissa said smiling sadly at them. She took up her bag, opened the door and stepped outside.

Shane looked angrily at his parents. He rose to his feet, opened the door and went after her. He caught her halfway through the front gate. He grabbed her arm, pulled her to him and kissed her passionately. He didn't care who saw them. He cupped her face with both hands. "What did I say to you the first night we made love? What did I say Lissa?" he asked her. He looked desperately in her eyes.

She swallowed, tears were streaming down her face. "You told me no other man would have me," she said.

"Correct," he told her closing his eyes. He opened them and used his thumbs to dry her tears. "No one else will have you as long as I am alive. And now my seed is inside you, I'm not going to let anyone make me lose you, not even my family." He kissed her lips tenderly. "Come with me," he said. He pulled her to his car.

"Where are we going?" she asked, her voice trembling. He made her sit in the car and closed her passenger side door, then got in, closed his door and started the car's engine. "My home away from home," he said. Lissa was curious about what he meant, but asked no further questions. She felt confused. Maybe she shouldn't have accepted his proposal.

They drove through the Bog Walk Gorge and passed over Flat Bridge. He took her to a large house, painted in cream, gold and aqua blue. He stopped his car at the gate. He opened the gate, jumped back into the car and drove the car into the driveway and parked it.

Lissa was about to open the car door when Shane came around and opened it for her. He closed the door after she got out and took her hand. He brought her to the front door and opened it for her. She stepped inside. He closed the door behind them then flipped the light switch on. He moved away from her to open a few windows to let in fresh air. The living room was nicely furnished. He took her hand and led her around the house.

"Kitchen," he said as he guided her through the rooms. Lissa looked at the modern, stainless steel fridge and the electric stove. She ran her fingers across the granite counter tops. She smiled at him, her eyes lighting up. He took her hand and brought her to the master bedroom. "This is a three bedroom house. This is the master bedroom," he told her.

He pulled her into the bedroom and led her to the bathroom. He opened the door. Lissa walked into it and looked around. Beautiful black and white ceramic tiles with accents of gold dazzled her eyes. The glass shower enclosure was a modern design. She admired the sophisticated stainless steel 'rain' shower head. She giggled when she thought of them taking a shower together under it.

Shane watched her face. "What's so funny?" he asked her smiling. Lissa glanced at him and shook her head shyly. "It's nothing," she said.

"Nah, it's not nothing," he said coming closer to her. "I saw the way you were looking at the shower. What are you thinking? You can tell me," he told her. He came up behind her and put his hands on her hips. He bent his head and planted kisses on her neck. She leaned her head back. Shane pulled her body back on him. "Mmh, Lissa, I know this is wrong but ... hmm, you feel so right." He nibbled on her right ear. Lissa whimpered. She reached her hand up to caress his head.

"Ohh Shane, ahh, I love you," she breathed. Shane turned her around to him. He took her hand and brought her into the bedroom. He sat down and made her sit on his lap. He kissed her lips slowly then said. "My sweet baby, I brought you here to show this house. I had it rented out recently, but decided to do some renovations because I'm planning on living here permanently. Now that I have you I can move in earlier." He brushed his fingers through her hair. She closed her eyes as he touched her. "Forgive me Lissa, I want to make sweet love to you."

Lissa leaned forward and kissed him deeply. She took his hands and placed them on her breasts. Shane opened his mouth and licked his lips. He squeezed her breasts.

"I want to taste you," he said. He bit his bottom lip. "You're really sweet," he told her.

Lissa groaned. "You can taste me if you want," she said. "I'm yours."

Shane lifted her off his lap and laid her on the bed. "You smell wonderful," he told her. He kissed her neck with soft pecks and suckled it gently. He cupped her breasts gently. "Mmhh, sweet baby." He moved his hand down and lifted her dress. He cupped her private area gently. "I want you," he breathed.

"Take me. I'm yours," she moaned. Shane lifted the dress over her head. He took it from her and laid it aside on a chair in the room.. He kissed the top of her breasts. "Take me please," she whimpered.

Stepping back from the bed, Shane removed his jacket and dropped it to the floor. He cautiously removed the shoulder holster with his gun still firmly in place and rested it carefully on the chair. He unbuttoned his vest and also dropped it to the floor. He loosened his tie and threw it to the floor. He unbuttoned his shirt, but placed it on the back of the chair. He stood before her in a black marina and the dark grey pants. His strong, bulging arms took her breath away.

He bent forward and removed his shoes and socks. She smiled at him shyly. He came to her, his sexy, dark brown eyes pulling her in with his hypnotic stare. Lissa gazed into them. The color of his eyes seemed even darker, almost like black coals as he looked at her. Lissa felt her heart racing. She was prepared to do anything he asked her.

Reaching behind her, Shane unhooked her bra and sucked on her cleavage. He pulled off her bra and threw it away. He buried his face between her soft breasts. Lissa moaned his name. "Ohh baby. Ohh Shane, I love you. I love you,"  she said.

Shane groaned, "Mmhh, oh god Lissa, I wanna take you. Are you okay with that?"

"Yes, please, yes," she moaned.

Shane cupped her breasts in his hands and suckled her nipples. He kissed them gently and heard her moan. He pulled on them harder as she bit her bottom lip and moaned louder. He reached his hand down and cupped her crotch. She called his name.

He used his hands to open her legs and moved lower to go between her thighs. He slipped his fingers through the waist of her pink panties, drew them down and put them aside. He looked at her. "Sweet, sweet baby," he said, "you are very beautiful, from head to toe, and in between."

He gently kissed her soft mound. "I love you," he said. He parted her delicate folds and kissed her tenderly. She moaned his name. She yielded to him when he told her to bend over. He inserted two fingers and slowly stroked them in and out of her. He spoke to her in a soft, passionate tone, telling her that she was beautiful and he couldn't wait to be inside her again. But she realised he was holding himself back. She pushed her butt up to him, spreading her legs wider so he could see she was ready for him, but he only rubbed her bottom and gently fingered her.

Shane knew what she wanted. He wanted it too, but this time he decided that he would only take the edge off for her, and not go all the way. The way she responded to his touch earlier made him realise that she was 'pressed' for his lovemaking and he wanted to satisfy her. Plus, he kind of wanted to experience her sweetness again. He looked at her body. She was a delight to behold. Just for today, for now, he would forget about the man in the black suit, his parents or Lissa's parents' expectations. He would only focus on her and make her happy.

He made her lay on her back and open her legs for him. He looked at her and shook his head in disbelief. After all this time, she was finally his. He smiled at her. "You're very beautiful," he told her. He squeezed her soft mound gently and felt her body shiver. She called his name with a whimper, "Shane, ahh!"

Slowly and tenderly he went down on her. He wrapped his arms around her thighs holding her in place. Lissa savored his sensuous kisses and the gentle licking motion of his tongue. He took his time, wanting to make sure he satisfied her thoroughly. Shane switched gears and moved fervently on her when he felt her body vibrating with anticipation. With every insistent tongue stroke, he felt her thigh muscles grow taut with built up desire.

Lissa felt abuzz from his erotic caresses. She begged him to and he penetrated her with his tongue, moving his head back and forth while groaning deeply. She moaned his name over and over. Never had she felt something like that before. Her senses were heightened. Her body felt like a sensitive bundle of nerve endings waiting to explode.

Shane tasted her honey and was addicted. It was as if he needed to taste her. His tongue inside her was something unexpected, but he was enjoying himself more than he could admit. Her sweet taste, her smell was such a turn on. He never knew he could feel this way, and he wasn't ashamed to please her like this.

After she climaxed, he held her close and whispered lovingly in her ear. He told her he loved her and he was sorry he said they should keep their distance. She lay happily in his arms and closed her eyes. He rested his body on the headboard while she lay back on him. He wrapped his arms around her. "Do you want me to pleasure you?" Lissa asked him.

Shane smiled.  "If you want to," he answered.

"I want to," she replied.

She turned around and looked into his eyes. She kissed him passionately. She touched his crotch. He was aroused. She unbuckled his belt. Shane pulled it off his pants and threw it aside. Lissa pulled his pants' button and zipper then put her hand inside. She licked her lips as she held him. "You feel so good," Lissa said.

Shane helped her pull down his pants and underpants. She lay down before him. She looked appreciatively at his member. Lissa smiled. "I love you," she said. She licked her lips while she eyed him hungrily. She had grown fond of doing the act to him. She was waiting for him to ask her, and was a little disappointed when he didn't. But decided she would take matters into her own hands. Lissa held him and stroked his hard shaft. She watched as Shane leaned his head back and sighed. He whispered her name.

She covered his member with her mouth to pleasure him. She moved over him slowly, savoring his taste. She closed her eyes and thought of what he did to her earlier, how gentle he was with her as he went down on her. She groaned and moved her mouth faster on him. She felt Shane caress her hair and heard him moan her name. "Ohh Lissa!" he groaned. She felt like she was losing control. She lifted her head, moaned softly and stroked him with her hands. She was breathing heavily. "Mmh baby, you taste so good. So good," she moaned, looking up at his eyes.

Shane looked at her face. He saw her passionate expression and was overwhelmed with his desire for her. He stared into her eyes. He could get lost in those warm, beautiful, mysterious pools. He closed his eyes and groaned when she covered him with her mouth again. Lissa moved as fast as she could on him until he cried out her name and climaxed.

The family decided to go over to David and Bellinda Crosby's house for a meeting. After Elder Crosby told the ushers they were finished using the room, he and his wife, his son and his wife and sons drove separately to their house.

They decided they would all meet to talk in the large living room space. Kerry went into the kitchen with the boys and showed them how to make grilled cheese sandwiches for the family. Shaun leaned back in one of two loveseats in the room, and waited for his parents to change into more comfortable clothes. He had tried to call his brother several times but he wasn't getting him. He could only assume that he had turned off his phone.

Belinda walked into the room first. Shaun observed his mother's contrite expression. He felt sympathy for her. Deep down he knew his mother loved him but she had a softer spot for her first born. Even though they looked like their father, Shane was closer in temperament to her.

They also had a similar sense of humor, and were very passionate about the people they loved. Shaun was more like his dad, more calmer and not too quick to 'blow up'. It was only since Shane surrendered his life to the Lord that he was able to put some of that fire and bluster under control. No doubt the Holy Spirit was working in his brother to make him a calmer person.

Belinda Crosby sat in the fluffy brown couch and clasped her hands together. They were waiting for David Crosby to enter the room to begin. Kerry had told them that she liked Lissa, and if Shane took the time to actually bring home a woman she must be special to him. She excused herself afterwards, and told them she would keep the boys occupied.

Shaun loved his wife. She had a quiet but formidable demeanor when it came to the things or the people that mattered to her. He knew she was very fond of his brother, and was overjoyed when she watched him being baptized eight months earlier. He loved his brother too. He didn't always agree with his decisions but in the case of Lissa, he really liked her. Besides the fact that she was gorgeous and his brother's type physically, she seemed like a calm soul. Maybe she was who his brother needed to balance him out.

David Crosby walked into the room and sat down beside his son. Belle noticed what he did and pouted. She looked at her husband sheepishly. "You are angry with me Davie?" she asked. David Crosby cleared his throat. "Not angry darling, disappointed is the word," he answered her. Shaun leaned forward. He looked at his dad's demeanor. Cool as a cucumber as usual. "What do you think dad?" he asked him.

"I need to know more about this young woman. Lissa?" his father replied.

Shaun nodded. "Yes, Melissa aka Lissa. That's her pet name." he responded. "As far as I know she's a work colleague. I believe she's some type of counsellor, but that is all I know. Shane only mentioned her once before that he liked her. But you heard what she said, and he said earlier, apparently he's liked her since they first met."

Belle sighed. "Am I wrong for getting angry for what our son did, Davie? He's acted irresponsible before but never got anyone pregnant, well, not that I know of," she said looking directly at her husband.

Shaun shook his head. "No. He hasn't gotten anyone else pregnant. This would be his first set of twins," he told his mother.

David chuckled and looked at his son. "There are instances where twins have one child, son," he told him amused. Shaun smiled. "True," he said, "but mommy's genes are strong and with Shane being the first born I guess he'll automatically have twins."

Belle smiled sadly. "Shaun, Davie, you know I love Shane I just want him to do well. Maybe I got angry, but he should have been more responsible."

David listened to his wife and son. He too loved his son. "Yes, he was wrong honey. He sinned, but he sinned against God first and foremost. However, he is our son and we need to help him at this time. He wants to do the right thing and we must support him on that. For the sake of his salvation and the child this young woman is carrying. You were wrong to imply that she was sent to seduce him. We know no such thing. What we do know is that she seems to be willing to go along with getting married. I need to speak to both of them and see where the relationship they have is leading. Bear in mind honey, she is also someone's daughter. They may be just as upset as we are. We can only hope they do not treat our son harshly."

Belle sat forward in the couch and sighed. "Whenever Shane brings her around again I will apologize to her and try to get to know her," she said. David nodded. "Good. As a more mature Christian woman, your gracious demeanor should shine forth," he admonished her.

She nodded. "Yes, but Shane is my son so you know how it is, but I will try to talk to her, get to know her."

David nodded. "Good," he said. He moved over to the couch where his wife was sitting and kissed her on the cheek. She laughed softly. "I love you," David said.

"I love you," Belle replied. David put his arms around his wife and kissed her cheek.

Shaun smiled at his parents. He stood up to go to the kitchen. "Excuse me," he told them. They smiled and nodded at him then focused on loving each other. Shaun walked into the kitchen. He watched as his wife instructed Nate on using the butter knife to spread on a little butter on the bread slices while she watched as Noah washed the tomatoes. She took two tomatoes from Noah and sliced them thinly.

Shaun cleared his throat. She looked up and smiled at him. "Hey baby" she greeted him. "How is the meeting?" He walked towards her and kissed her neck. She giggled softly. He still had that effect on her. She looked up at him. Her eyes telling him she was ready to leave when he was. He grinned at her. She was so beautiful and intuitive. She made him feel content and happy.

"They've decided to find out more about her and be more open minded," he told her.

"Good. I'm glad. I like Lissa. From what I've gotten to know of her, she does love our brother," she said resting her head on his shoulder. Shaun chuckled. He loved when she used the term 'our brother'. She was fiercely loyal and that was one of the reasons he loved her so much. He put his arms around her waist. Kerry chuckled. "Did you see how she reacted to him touching her?" she asked amused.

Shaun laughed softly. "I can recall a five foot seven brown skin beauty who used to shiver whenever I touched her." He squeezed her closer. Kerry bit her bottom lip. "I still do," she said smiling cheekily. Out of the corner of her left eye she saw Noah doing something. "Ha! Noah put the knife down!" she ordered her son sharply.

Noah looked up at his mother and put the cutting knife down. "Come to me," she said. Noah went to his mother's side. "Stay here and don't move," she said. Nate giggled and pointed at his brother. "That is not funny Nate," Shaun said to his son sternly. Nathan held his head down, but was still grinning mischievously, while he continued to butter the bread slices. Shaun saw his face and chuckled. "You know your sons are going to be heart breakers when they get older, just like their dad and uncle," Kerry told him amused. He kissed her forehead. He smiled at her. "I hope they find women they can love the way I love you," he said. Kerry smiled at her husband.

Lissa lay in Shane's arms. She stroked his chest slowly. She loved his body. She looked at his face. "What are you thinking about?" she asked. He had a pensive look on his face. "I'm thinking I will marry you even if my family does not approve," he replied.

She touched his face and turned him to look at her. "I love you. I know how important family means to a Jamaican child," she said chuckling. "I love my parents very much as I know you love yours. Baby, it's okay, we can co-parent if that is better. I don't want any problems with your parents, especially your mom. I would rather they willingly accept me as part of the family than grudgingly, and it becomes an issue for our kids as they get older."

He cupped her face. "Lissa, I won't let you go. I won't." he told her. "I love my parents but even the Word says a man leaves the comfort and shelter of his parents and clings to his wife and the two become one. In a sense, we have become one." He touched her belly. "You have a little one growing inside you, and I owe it to you and him or her ..." he chuckled, "or them to focus on you and our life together."

She was touched by his words. She kissed him tenderly then said, "I love you even more for saying this, but children growing up in a family filled with resentment is not good. I won't have my child or children being thrust into that," she said.

He sighed and smiled at her. "I love you so much. I will talk with them. My parents are good people. I will talk to them and explain. They will have questions and concerns. And about what my mother said, Lissa I know you. Don't worry about what she said."

She looked at him, eyebrows raised. "So your family is well-off?" she asked.

He nodded. "Yeah, in a sense. My dad took a few risks and made some lucrative investments, but those are his and my mom's, not mine. Our names are on the investments, but I want to gain my own," he told her. "That's why I never mention it to the women I'm with, to me it's their money, not mine. They've worked really hard, they deserve to have nice things in their older years."

Lissa smiled at him. "I agree," she responded admiring his mindset. She climbed on top and sat on him. Straddling him, she smiled down at him cheekily. She bounced on him playfully. He cupped her bottom and laughed. He squeezed her and blew kisses at her. "You ready to go home?" he asked her.

She nodded. "Yeah, sure. Stay for dinner?"

"You sure? When your mom finds out I knocked you up, wouldn't she try to kill me?" he said it with a smile, but Lissa could tell he was nervous.

She shook her head. "Her bark is worse than her bite. Once she sees that I love you and you care for me, she will support us." She leaned forward and kissed him playfully. She was about to come off him, when he pulled her forward and kissed her passionately. When he released her, she felt heady and breathless. She looked into his eyes and saw that he was also shaken by their kiss.

She climbed off him, blushing. She took her dress to the bathroom. There was a large mirror there she wanted to look at herself in. She went into the bathroom and washed her face, then got dressed. Shane came in behind her. "Soon I'm going to fulfill this fantasy for you," he smiled seductively. She laughed. "What fantasy?" she asked happily.

"The one where we shower together after we make love," he said. He came up behind her and kissed her neck. "But after we're married. I want to put a ring on your finger first, then we'll do all the stuff you fantasize about."

Lissa laughed. "So you figured it out?" she asked amused. "Mhm," he said. "You're quite transparent. The way you were looking at the shower, I figured that must be what you were thinking."

Lissa turned to him and kissed him. "I love you."

"I love you," he replied.

"Leave in five minutes?" he asked. She nodded. "Yes," she answered.

He went back into the bedroom and searched his jacket for his phone. He took it out and turned it on. He saw two missed calls from his brother and one from his dad. He sighed. He would talk to them another time. He saw a phone call from an unknown number. He debated whether he should call it back. In the end curiosity got the better of him. He hit redial and was surprised to hear who was on the other side of the line. He listened carefully to what he had to say.

"So she's pregnant?" Sandra asked again to confirm.

She was laying in bed naked. Marcus gently used his left hand to lovingly caress her bottom. He too was still in the nude, just in case she wanted more. He looked at her. He was still crazy about her. She was still very nimble in the bedroom and he tried his best to satisfy her as often as possible.

"Are you angry?" he asked her.

Sandra laughed softly. "You know it's hard for me to get upset for a few hours after we do this. So ... is that why you did this before you told me?" she asked, her eyes teasing him. He chuckled and slapped her bottom. "Why would you think that? I love making love to you," he told her. He gave her a charming smile.

"I know you do, but you also know I need my dose of medicine or I get cranky." She kissed his lips.

She sighed. "Lissa is my baby. I will love her baby, my grand child. Not sure about Shane, but I want to know him," she said.

"I like him," Marcus said.

"Oh?" she said looking at him surprised.

"Mhm," he said. "He seems to be really smitten with her. He reminds me of me when I first met you and fell madly in love." He lifted his head and kissed her brow. Sandra closed her eyes. "Okay. I will give him a chance, for Lissa's sake." she said.

He nodded. "Hungry?" he said giving her a sexy smile.

Sandra smiled. She knew what he was talking about. "Sure," she said. She passionately captured his lips.

Carli baked a banana bread cake for her reunion with her aunt and her family. She baked the cake with Lissa in mind. Banana bread was Lissa's favorite cake. She couldn't wait to see her and find out about this new mystery man in her life.

She was also bringing a new t-shirt and jeans she picked up on the north coast for Brandon, as well as a bath set which consisted of a beauty bar, a small bottle of body wash, a creamy lotion and body mist. She hoped Lissa would like it, especially now that she had a new man. For her uncle she bought a shirt with matching tie, and for her aunt she bought a body mist and perfume set. She packed each in nice shopping bags. She was excited to see them. She dialed her aunt's number.

"Hey Carli, are you back?" aunt Sandra said.

Carli grinned. "Yes I am. We're planning on coming by today for the rest of my things and to catch up of course."

"Well, Lissa isn't here, she went to church with ..." Sandra paused. "It's a long story but she isn't here. She should be back soon I hope," she said.

Carli chuckled. "I know about the new guy," she told her aunt. "She called me recently for advice about making breakfast for him.

"Oh really?" she heard aunt Sandra say.

"Mhm, yup," Carli answered. She heard her aunt laugh softly.

"It's best you call her and find out what her schedule is my dear. She's hardly here these days," Sandra said amused.

Carli chuckled. "Okay. Will do. But you and uncle are okay aunty?"

"Yes hun. We're good," Sandra said smiling.

"I'm still coming by today for my stuff," she told her aunt.

"Okay," Sandra said. "What time?" she asked

"Around 4:30," Carli said. "I also have some stuff for you guys."

"Is that so?" Sandra asked intrigued.

"Mhm," Carli said. "See you then?"

Sandra nodded. "Okay hun. See you."

Carli hung up.

She looked out the window. Jason was washing the car. He wasn't wearing a shirt, just a mesh marina. He's so hot! she thought. She bit her bottom lip. Maybe she should do something to surprise him, but what could she do? She looked around the room. Her eyes caught the apron hanging on a nail in the kitchen. Oh, she got it!

As they drove in the car Lissa decided she would ask him about the sermon. She had her hand on his thigh. Besides his chest, his muscular thighs were her other favorite place on him to touch. She gently rubbed her hand on him and looked at him. He glanced at her and smiled. He noted the way she was looking at him. He blew her a kiss and she giggled. "You okay?" he asked her.

He was taking her home. She had called her parents and they said it was okay for him to stay for dinner. Her dad said they wanted to get to know him. He was nervous but at the same time he was hopeful. Lissa said her dad told her mom about her being pregnant for him and she took the news fairly well.

She cleared her throat, "I have a few questions. Bible stuff," she said looking at him. He glanced at her then looked back on the road. "Sure," he said, "I'll do my best to give you clear answers, once I know them."

"The Bible verse the pastor used today said that Christ bore our pain and suffering. What does he mean by that?" she asked.

Shane thought about how he would answer. He smiled at her then focused on the road. "Because of Adam's sin, death entered the world, and because of death there's pain as in sickness and disease, and suffering meaning bad things that happen to us. That's why God sent His Son. Christ's mission is to redeem humans to a state where there will be no more sickness, disease and pain. Ultimately, no death. As a way to demonstrate that, Jesus healed many people. He also raised persons from the dead. You are familiar with the account of Lazarus' death and how Jesus raised him from the dead?"

Lissa nodded.

"Okay," Shane continued, "That is an example of Christ's power over death and sickness. And of course Christ himself rose to life after being crucified. Being crucified as an innocent man, a man who never did anything wrong, God showed mercy on us in allowing Him to take the punishment and not us for the things we do and will ever do. He is the 'Spotless Lamb' of God that purifies us. He took the punishment that we deserved. So He was punished for our disobedience to God. Christ's sacrifice was the only one that could satisfy the righteous requirements of God.

"When Adam disobeyed God it was called sin. Of course if you look at it from a human to human level if you are a child and you refuse to listen to your parent or parents you face certain consequences. That was what happened, God told Adam not to touch and eat, unfortunately he did, and now here we all are. Because we all are descendants of Adam, the sin nature has been passed on to us, which is why we tell lies, cheat, steal, kill and do other things, and even a person who has never done any of those things is capable of doing them. It's like a stain on our conscience." Lissa could see the sad look in his eyes. She wondered if he was thinking about what they did earlier.

"When I came back to the church I knew it wouldn't be easy for me. I knew that it was possible I would do things I am not supposed to, but still in spite of that, I want to do the right thing. Even if I fall, I don't want to live my life just anyhow."

"Do you regret being with me?" she asked. She was in love with him. She dreaded one day he would say she was the worse mistake he made in his life.

"I don't regret loving you. I don't regret wanting you and desiring to be with you. In a sense, I regret rushing the physical, but I'm weak. The best I know how is to ensure I protect this relationship by marrying you," he told her.

"And I will marry you Lissa. There is no one else I want," Shane said smiling at her. "Tell you what, you say you're not really religious, but you believe in a Creator?"

Lissa nodded.

"Promise me you'll keep an open mind, okay?" he said.

She smiled. "I will," she said.

When they came up on the Dixon's residence, they saw a car parked in the driveway of the house. Shane parked at the gate and shut off the engine. He saw Lissa's excitement. She grinned at him. "It's my cousin and her husband's vehicle, which means they are here!" She opened the car door and stepped out. She came around to his side and waited for him to open his door. He had a nervous look on his face. Lissa reached up on tiptoe and kissed his cheek, then she extended her hand to him.

"Do you trust me?" she asked. Shane looked at the beautiful woman standing before him. Yes, he trusted her. He nodded. "Yeah I do," he said. "Good," she said. She grabbed his hand and pulled him through the gate towards the house. She knocked on the door. Her little brother came to answer. He opened the door wider and allowed them to enter. As Shane walked past him he heard him say, "Congrats." He looked at him and smiled. Brandon smiled back at him. As Lissa led him past the foyer into the living room, he heard laughing and happy voices.

They entered the living room and Shane saw a familiar face he hadn't seen in awhile. Jason was there at the gathering along with a beautiful light skin young woman. When she saw them the young woman got up and moved quickly towards Lissa. She hugged her. He observed Lissa hugging her really tight. He assumed it was Lissa's cousin. He looked over to see Jason standing to his feet and walking towards him.

Shane was relieved to see another friendly face. Jason stretched his hand out to him. Shane took his hand to shake it. Jason patted him on his back. "Squaddie! Whapm? Yuh deh yah?" Shane felt better.

He smiled broadly at his friend. "Yeah. I am here. Congrats Jase, I heard you're a married man now!"

Jason grinned. "Yup!" he said. He looked over at his wife. Shane could see the admiration in his friend's eyes as he looked at her. Shane was happy for him. Lissa pulled away from her cousin and was about to introduce her to Shane. "Shane, this is my little cousin Carlethia, Carli is her pet name." Carli turned to him and shook his hand. "Nice to meet you," she said. Shane noted she had a gorgeous smile. "So this is the handsome police officer who you said liked you?" Carli asked being mischievous.

Lissa blushed. She chuckled. "No," she said looking up at Shane with love in her eyes, "this is the handsome police officer I've fallen in love with." She stood on tiptoe and kissed him briefly. Shane felt elated.

Brandon walked in and watched the whole scene. All his favorite people were in the room except for his mom and dad. And now he had a potentially new brother joining the family. He was happy. Lissa looked around. "Where's mom and dad?" she asked. Brandon spoke up, "They've gone to buy pizza and chicken wings, maybe some muffins as well." She looked behind her to see Brandon watching them. "Oh, they didn't get the time to cook. Wonder what happened?" Lissa asked concerned. "Not sure," he said, "but you know mom and dad when we're not home." He winked at his sister. Lissa laughed. "Oh yeah," she said.

She looked up at Shane, hoping that they would be like that when they got married and had children. She rested her head on his chest. Shane rubbed her back and looked at Jason who was looking at them with a pleased look on his face. He also noted that Carli was quite amused. They seemed to be very happy for her. He bent forward and kissed her hair. Raising his head up, he saw Carli's smile broaden.

Lissa went into the kitchen to help Carli fry salt-fish fritters while he and Jason sat in the living room. Brandon had gone upstairs to his room.

"Married man, eh?" Shane said looking at his young friend.

Jason smiled. "Yeah. Carli came into my life totally by surprise. She literally bumped into me." He chuckled and told Shane the story of how they met. "What about you and Lissa?" Jason asked him.

Shane leaned back on the grey couch. "Lissa is actually my work colleague at the police station where I'm assigned. We've been friends for five years. But since she and her boyfriend had issues and broke up, we've gotten closer."

"So you love her?" Jason asked.

"Yes. Actually, I've had feelings for her since the first time I met her. But it's just God's timing," he told him.

"God's timing? Bro! Did you?" Jason looked at him excited.

Shane nodded and laughed softly. "Yeah, some of what you said last year sunk in. I accepted Christ about eight months now."

Jason extended his hand and slapped Shane on the shoulder. "Happy for you bro!" Jason was excited. When he met Shane, he was hardened, but he was still a joy to work with. He managed to speak with him about Christ after he found out that Shane knew the Bible. He was happy he made the effort to talk with him. Shane was grateful Jason took his time to befriend him, and spoke with him about God, while he and his dad worked on the house he was now residing. Trusting God was the best decision he made so far.

Jason was curious about something. He looked at Shane with a cheeky smile. "So should I call you bro in law anytime soon?" he asked.

Shane chuckled. "Yes, it is my intention. I proposed to her and she accepted."

Jason laughed. "Hear di man nuh?" he said amused. "Locking it down from early, eh? Mi nuh blame yuh. I proposed to Carli before I got a ring."

With eyebrows raised Shane laughed softly. "Same." He sighed. "Lissa is beautiful. She's very loving. A really nice girl. And very beautiful."

Jason listened to his friend while smiling. He could see how smitten he was, and was happy Lissa found happiness of her own. He nodded as he listened. Now that Lissa was occupied she would surely keep out of his and Carli's business. He was relieved.

Half an hour later, Sandra and Marcus returned with two large boxes of pizza, chicken wings, seven muffins and two one litre bottles of soda. Lissa and Carli followed Sandra into the kitchen to assist in preparing the food. Shane liked Lissa's family. He felt very welcome.

The women took out plates, glasses and forks for the occasion, setting the table, while all the men including Shane and Brandon, sat in the living room chatting.  Lissa helped Carli distribute the salt-fish fritters and the other food items evenly among the plates. Sandra left them and called Shane aside to speak with him. She told him that she wanted to learn more about him and if he treated her daughter right, she would support them getting married. He was touched by her sincerity. He smiled at her and told her he would be honored to be a part of their family.

The family sat down, ate and chatted. They listened to Shane as he shared about his life and parents. He told them openly that his parents were displeased with the news he told them, but he knew they would come around. He saw the worried look on Sandra's face and reassured her that he would marry her daughter regardless, however he knew this was a shock for his parents. He would give them time to process what he told them then reach out to them. He saw her nod her approval and felt grateful. No wonder Lissa was such a patient and understanding person.

Carli and Jason were shocked to learn that Lissa was now pregnant. Jason was very surprised. He looked at Carli and wondered how she felt knowing her cousin was pregnant. Would her yearning for a baby resurface? He wanted one as much as she did, but didn't think they were ready.

Afterwards, Carli rushed out to the car and brought the gifts she bought for the family into the house. She gave each one their gift cheerfully. "Sorry I don't have a gift for you Shane," she said to him smiling, "but Lissa never told me her change of plans." Lissa playfully slapped her cousin on her arm. Carli giggled. Shane smiled at her. "That's fine, maybe next time," he joked. Carli nodded. "Yes," she looked at her cousin. "I hope so." Lissa nodded. Yes there will be a next time, she thought.

At 7:30 p.m., Lissa walked Shane to the door. Carli and Jason would sleep over in the guest room, because Carli wanted to have 'girl talk' with her cousin. Lissa kissed Shane's lips and looked at him. "You're like a dream come true," she told him. "You're literally everything I have wanted in a man. You're kind, thoughtful, and sexy." She ran her hands across his chest. He decided to get dressed in a black polo shirt and black jeans. He wore black and grey sneakers on his feet. The black on black combo was devastating to her senses. She pressed her fingers on his chest, biting her lip. Shane leaned forward and kissed her forehead. "I love you sweet baby," he told her. "No matter what, I love you with all of me."

"I love you too," she said. She put her arms around him and kissed him passionately, then released him from her embrace. He smiled at her, making sure to gaze at her for a little while. He touched her face. Lissa looked up at him, mesmerized by this new love she found in him. He brushed his hand on her face gently, stepped off the porch, then walked towards his car. Lissa stood at the door and watched him leave. She was happy.

He started the engine and drove off. She turned around to go inside the house when she heard gun shots. Loud shots ringing out, indicating they were nearby. The sounds frightened her. It felt like they had pierced her heart also. She turned around and saw Shane's car careening towards a light post, crashing into it. She screamed.
